Meaning and reporting basis
Operating profit is an intermediate result used to analyze performance before specified financial and tax components. Its exact composition must be established from the financial statements and the standards applied, rather than treating every line with this label as identical to EBIT or management EBITDA.
IFRS 18 introduces a defined operating result and is mandatory for annual periods beginning on or after January 1, 2027, with early application permitted. Source: **curr-stat-ifrs18**, About. As of October 15, 2026, it must not automatically be attributed to every published form.
Limits of interpretation
Do not describe operating profit as freely available cash. Depreciation, accruals, investments and the payment calendar create differences. When comparing periods, check the composition of expenses and changes in classification. An analytical adjustment should be shown separately from the original reported amount.
