Other comprehensive income

Income and expenses that, under applicable standards, are not included in the profit or loss for the period.

Why this matters

Income and expenses that, under applicable standards, are not included in the profit or loss for the period.

Example

Other comprehensive income can change equity even when familiar net profit does not show that movement. IAS 1 permits presenting profit or loss and other comprehensive income in one statement or in two separate statements. Source: **curr-stat-ias1**, About.

Common mistake

Do not treat “other” as a synonym for immaterial or add this result to cash receipts. For particular items, the presentation and possible later reclassification to profit or loss may differ. There is no universal rule for every remeasurement: establish the specific nature from the note.
